Ukraine will need decades to restore the environment from the war footprints

Wars are devastating for both people and nature. Even when they end, their footprints stay for a long time. For example, in Ukraine, remnants of shells and mines from World War II are still being found. The impact of the ongoing war in Ukraine on the environment is yet to be fully assessed, especially in the occupied territories and combat zones. However, it is already evident that restoration will require decades.

Caritas Czech Republic will help reconstruct a new collective centre for internally displaced people in Berehove, Ukraine

As the war in Ukraine progresses, the need for accommodation for internally displaced people  in relatively safe western part of the country remains crucial. Many displaced individuals can not resolve their housing situation because of lacking money or free place. In the Zakarpattia region alone, over 170,000 displaced people are officially registered. To assist these people, Caritas Czech Republic is participating in the establishment of new housing for 180 displaced persons in Transcarpathia.
